Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Full Coverage Foundation.

Tarte Amazonian Clay Full Coverage Foundation in Tan Honey

I’ve got an awesome and in-depth review on the Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Full Coverage Foundation.  Before we get too into it, let me remind you of my skin type. I have combination skin that tends to be mostly oily with random dry spots.  Typically foundations don’t last on my oily areas and snag onto my dry spots.Squeeze BottleSwatch

I was matched for this foundation in Sephora and had an easy time settling on a shade.  Tarte products are fantastic because they come with descriptions of what skin tone each shade suits.  Tan Honey is described as being suitable for tan skin with a peach undertone which works perfectly with my complexion.

I have worn this with a few different primers (Smashbox Photo Finish More Than Primer – Blemish Control, Rimmel Stay Matte Primer, Becca Ever-Matte Poreless Priming Perfector) and find it performs fantastically over any kind I use.  It works well with setting sprays too and doesn’t cause pilling or streaking because of the primer or spray.

The consistency is rather moussey actually.  It reminds me a lot of the texture of the Revlon Whipped Creme Makeup, but just in much better packaging.  It’s extremely easy to apply and doesn’t feel heavy at all.  Speaking of application, let’s get on to the tools I use with this product.
SpreadingReal Techniques Buffing BrushBlendingI apply this foundation by dotting it on first and blending later.  This foundation doesn’t set too quickly so it does give you some time to blend it to the perfect finish.  Now I’ve used an assortment of tools to apply this as well as my own two hands and I’m happy to report it works perfectly every single way I’ve tried it.  I’ve used the Real Techniques Buffing Brush (as pictured above), the Real Techniques Expert Face Brush, and the Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge to create an even base layer of the foundation on and have never had any problems.  Each brush offers a different finish and amount of coverage, but I always find that my foundation looks flawless.  Flawless meaning my skin looks like my skin just perfected.

What I love about this foundation is that it acts like a foundation and powder all in one thanks to the amazonian clay.  On oilier days I set it with my palladio rice powder and they work together really nicely.blendedClose upClose up Mouth

The amazonian clay is what gives it that kick of lasting power. A 12-hour claim is a big one.  I find that this product does last between with very minimal fading for 7-9 hours, but I do get a little shiny.  It holds up pretty well to humidity, but I think there might be something out there that works better.  In high heat and sweaty situations I find that it feels a little cakey, but it performs perfectly for everyday, typical wear.  In order to make it hot temperature friendly, I set it with the Urban Decay De-slick makeup setting spray and I’m good to go.

At $38.00, I think this product is worth the money.  I haven’t found a drugstore foundation that has the lasting power and a finish quite like this one.  There’s also a pretty decent color range.  I like the easy to use and hygienic packaging and I think the quality of the product overall is something special.

Do you have this foundation?  What do you think of it?  This is only my second Tarte product to date and I’m really impressed with the quality and performance of their makeup.  It’s crazy good.  I hope the holiday season is treating you well!  I’m in the middle of finals week and I hope you’re all doing well on your  tests and finals.  Good luck!

We shall talk soon!

MAC Fall/Winter Picks 2014.

MAC Keepsakes Palette in Beige Eyes; Tribalist Lipstick.Hey there bow friends!

Today I’m bringing you my 2014 MAC Fall/Winter picks.  You all loved my 2013 MAC Fall/Winter picks (So did I, it’s one of my favorite ones to date!) and with all their new collections out, I thought I would show you my favorites.

Out of their entire Heirloom Mix Holiday collection, I only lusted after two products: the Tribalist lipstick and the Keepsakes palette in Beige Eyes.  You know I’m a sucker for a red lip and I love a good neutral eye so these products were naturally winners in my eyes.  Can we talk about the packaging for a second?  The glittery victorian themed palette is absolutely adorable and the glitter lipstick packaging is perfect as well.

Some of these are limited edition shades so I can’t always link to them individually, but I will be linking to swatches and other reviews of these products done by other bloggers because having some other people’s opinions is always nice.

Her Mistress; Sovereign; Faire Maiden; Tempting; Omega; Quintessential; Mystery; Night Whisper.

From L to R – Her Mistress; Sweet Sovereign; Faire Maiden; Tempting; Omega; Quintessential; Mystery; Night Whisper.

This mix of neutral beiges and taupes offers the perfect palette for any look.  Day or night, simple or smokey.  The shades on the top row have warm undertones while the bottom row is all cool toned.

Let’s talk about the shades.  Her Mistress is a satin, beige shadow that works perfectly for brow highlights.  Sweet Sovereign is a frost finish, skin tone shade.  Faire Maiden is a gold, sparkly, frost.  Tempting is a deep, frosted bronze.  Omega is your basic matter taupe.  Quintessential is bronze, shimmering taupe. Mystery is a cool toned brown.  Night Whisper is an extremely dark brown.  One of the major selling points of this palette for me was that it comes with Mystery, the shade I use for my brows, making it perfect for traveling.  My favorite shades are Tempting (On the lid), Omega (blending out the crease), and Night Whisper (Outer V), all shades I used in the look I’m sharing in this post.

Tribalist Tribalist is an absolutely gorgeous shade that I think is a mix of a raisin and burgundy color. This is my first amplified finish lipstick and I’m extremely impressed.  The pigmentation and lasting power is off the charts with this shade and I find myself reaching for it constantly.  Plus, the creamy formula leads to the most comfortable wearing experience ever.

I hope you all enjoyed seeing my favorites and find this helpful if you’re looking into this holiday collection.  These products have been my go-tos for the last month and I don’t see myself putting them down any time soon.

I’m having so much fun preparing for the holidays!  This is normally a high stress time of year, but somehow I’m prepared for once (knock on wood).  I hope you’re all having a great end to your month and you enjoy your Sunday.

We shall talk soon!

The Body Shop Deluxe Edition Chocolate Body Butter; Chocomania Shower Gel; Ritual Chocolate.Hey there bow friends,

There’s something about cooler weather that makes me want to make everything a little more indulgent.  You all know how much I love The Body Shop body butters.  They’re nourishing with fantastic scents that never seem artificial.  The mini sizes, like the body wash, are perfect for travel and the chocolate scent happens to be my favorite out of all The Body Shop products.

Speaking of chocolate, I’ve been thinking about Colorado a lot.  I’ve been thinking about Colorado chocolate a lot.  I picked up Ritual Chocolate the last time we were there and it’s honestly some of the richest and dreamiest chocolate I’ve had in a long time.  This coffee one was really popular with my caffeine junkie mom.  All the bold flavor of coffee enveloped in some purely awesome chocolate.

Can you tell how into chocolate I am right now?  It’s a little much at this point, but who could blame me?  By the way, these chocolatey products are on sale right now at The Body Shop website.

I hope you’re all having an awesome week.  I’m having one of the busiest weeks of my semester, but all the hard work will pay off in the end, right?

We shall talk soon.
