Here’s an early Christmas gift – my first Iceland Vlog!

The third day in Iceland was a crazy long one.  We took a trip around the Golden Circle to see Þingvellir, Geysirs, and Gullfoss.  All of those names might be mouthfuls, but you can hear more about them in my first Iceland Vlog (FINALLY, RIGHT?!)!  Driving around Iceland was absolutely captivating.  The landscape is unlike anything I’ve ever seen.  Large open fields, moss, lichens, steam coming out of the ground in some places – it’s crazy gorgeous.  After spending the day exploring we headed back into to town for some food.

After dinner and ice cream, we made our way to Blue Lagoon.  Blue Lagoon is a geothermal spa with that iconic light blue, silica filled water.  The entire experience was a skincare junkie’s heaven.  The water is incredible for your skin and they offer face masks to put on while you swim around and relax.  Spa staff swim up to you with a floating trays covered in different skincare products for you to use.  There’s also a little stand you can swim up to to get slushies, drinks, and snacks.  It’s intense in the most relaxing way possible.

I’ve really enjoyed sharing the first part of our trip with you guys and I love that you all have been keeping along with it and enjoying it.  I hope you enjoy the vlog as well, it has been a long time coming.  There will be more blog posts and vlogs on the rest of our trip in the weeks to come so keep your eyes out for that!

I hope you all have an awesome holiday season and spend time with the ones that you love.  Enjoy yourselves and be safe.

So you all seemed to like Iceland day 1!  For those of you commenting and keeping up with these posts, I was in Iceland in July of this year.  That means that right now in Iceland they are in their “period of darkness” where they don’t get very much sun.  Our time in Iceland was apparently one of the coldest summers they’ve had in a while, but it was so beautiful out. Anyways, let’s get to day two.

On day two we had a picnic breakfast of pastries from Sandholt and made our way to the ferry for a ride to Videy Island.  Videy is this little island with a beautiful landscape that offers an incredible view of the city.  There are paths all over for nice walks and some times during the year there are horses to ride.  Oh and of course, there’s another park.  It’s also home to the Yoko Ono Imagine Peace Tower and this lovely restaurant where just about all of us ordered fish and chips.

After a ton of play time on the island, we spent a lot of time walking around Reykjavik and went out for some sushi at Sushibarinn.  The sushi was great and we also ended up getting some incredible beverages.  I got an acai berry and kiwi rum daiquiri and B got an elderflower drink.  Everything in Iceland is super scrumptious.  Sigh.  Can you tell I’m hungry now?

Well I hope you guys enjoyed day 2 and that you’re looking forward to day 3!  Day 3 is coming with a vlog and I can’t wait to show it to you.

Bows On The Road: Iceland Day 1.

Iceland Air YounginsBeau Time Icelandic lunch at Glo Reykjavik  Veggie Burger

Hey there, bow friends!

Today’s post is the first in a series of photo heavy posts to lead up to the first Iceland vlog!  Yay!  Finally!  Day one was mostly adventuring around, playing in parks, and getting familiar with our surroundings.  We also spent some time in the National museum, which was a really lovely museum actually.  Icelandic culture and history is extremely interesting to learn about.  Reykjavik is honestly one of the most gorgeous cities I’ve ever been in.  Can we talk about the food though for a second?  That first photo is probably one of my favorite meals from the entire trip.  It’s from Glo, an amazing vegetarian restaurant we stopped in a few times.  You must eat there.  You have to.  That yummy burger down there?  That’s from Hamborgharafabrikkan (The Hamburger Factory).  I’ve become a fan of over easy eggs (which is just crazy for me) and on a veggie burger, it was absolutely delicious.  That’s one thing about Iceland I love.  It’s so easy to get your vegetarian food on most anywhere you go.  Well, it’s also easy to get your seafood/nice meats on too.

That’s it for day 1.  More in depth information on what we did that day along with some gorgeous footage will be up later this week!  I hope you enjoyed!

We shall talk soon.
