The Birthday Splurge 2017.

Birthday Splurge 2017I know it’s no longer 2017, but I had the most perfect birthday and I need to talk about it. I spent it helping to host an event at work for our customers with some of my favorite Colorado gals. It was a fun and fulfilling day that only got better when I looked up from the counter to see B walking into the store. He and his parents had arranged a big surprise visit for me and I couldn’t be more thankful. We headed to one of my favorite Denver restaurants, Osteria Marco, for a dinner of bread, cheese, and cocktails. Oh, and I went home with a couple of new pieces I bought myself from the store that I thought I’d share with you. That’s right, it’s time for the Birthday Splurge 2017.

I took my birthday as a good reason to treat myself to some pieces from the boutique I work in. I’ve had my eye on the Seychelles Rookery boots in tan since they arrived to the store a few months ago. It wasn’t until I busted up my old faithful brown boots, that I thought I should replace them with some quality shoes instead of some $30 ones from CottonOn. They have an illusion heel that makes them look taller than they really are. They’re incredibly comfortable and will fit into my wardrobe all year round.

I’ve had a lightweight trench on my wishlist for years. There’s something so classic about them that instantly pulls together a basic look. One came into the store from Everly and I was immediately obsessed with it. Although I’d normally buy a piece like this in black, I went for it in a camel/apricot color that complements my existing wardrobe well. I haven’t been able to find it online, but both Pretty Little Thing and Express offer very similar versions.

Who’s surprised that I finally caved and bought the Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Foundation? I had to see if it was actually the oily skin, God-sent miracle everyone hyped it up to be. The were right. It looks incredibly natural, but offers unbeatable coverage. It wears naturally and lasts longer than any other foundation I’ve ever used.

I love applying it with my newest brush, the Sephora Pro Mini Flawless Airbrush. This brush was the creme de la creme of beauty bloggers a few years back and I can definitely see why. The bristles are dense, but still have some flexibility to them that makes them perfect for blending foundation. I actually love it for applying and blending out my contour and bronzer.

If you love a good beauty haul, make sure to check out my birthday splurges from years past. 2016, 2015

I’ve been super curious about the Fenty Foundation! I have combo skin and my make up is usually off my T zone well before the end of the day. Did you use any other primers with it?

I am super oily and have had great luck with it! So far I’ve tried it without primer, with the Nars Shine Control primer, and the Hourglass Mineral Veil. It works well with all of them!
