Watching/ Reading/ Listening

It’s about time we got personal again. I haven’t given you any kind of update in a few months and I thought I’d include a little collection of what I’m watching, reading, and listening to these days.

I’ve been sticking to the old classics (aka rewatching Friends and The Office for the millionth time), but I did watch Girl Boss. I’m going to go ahead and say it wasn’t my favorite. The clothing was amazing, but that was about it for me. I couldn’t relate to Sophia and I found her…pretty annoying, if I’m honest.

I’m almost done with The Idiot by Elif Batuman. It’s a book following the thoughts and life of a Hungarian, Harvard freshman, Selin, in 1995. Selin loves language and even more, she loves a boy who is a linguistics master. There’s no deep or hidden meaning to this book, but at a time where I’m often feeling alone and still finding my footing in a new place, it’s a comfort to connect to a character with many similar feelings. The book is written unlike anything I’ve ever read before. It jumps between streams of consciousness and dialogue in such a natural way that feels like having a late night talk with a friend.

Welp. I don’t know that this is a surprise, but I’m still playing Joanne on repeat. The one problem is that half the songs make me want to dance until the sun comes up and the other half makes me burst into tears almost immediately. I can’t listen to Joanne, Million Reasons, Girigio Girls, Angel Down, Come to Mama, or Sinner’s Prayer without getting emotional. I end up skipping most of the album on my ride to work in the morning, but I do get to have a straight up boogie to A-yo, John Wayne, Perfect Illusion, and Dancin’ in Circles. But especially John Wayne.

So lots of good news! I found a job at a boutique in Denver and I love it. Seriously, I love it. I can take the train to work if I’d like, which is just so cool. Maybe some of you won’t think that’s cool, but it’s pretty life changing for me. The work is fun, my co-workers are sweet, creative, and bad ass women. Oh, and the clothes are amazing. I can’t fit in a lot of them, but I have taken home some great tops.

In other wonderful news, B has moved to California to work at SpaceX for a few months. That’s right, SpaceX. My dude is a spaceman. I miss him a lot, but I’m so incredibly proud of him.

I’ve never seen a post like this, but to be honest, I love it! I might even write one of my own…

I so need to watch Friends and the Office now that schools out and I have nothing to do.

    xoxo, Rawan M.
