What year is it again? According to what I’m wearing on my lips it’s 2007. I entered high school ten years ago with a tube of CoverGirl Wetslicks Lip Gloss and the hope that I wouldn’t do anything to embarrass myself. I definitely left both of those things in 2007. The embarrassment thing when I stepped on the sleeve of my jacket in between classes and slid around a crowded hallway like Bambi on ice. Embarrassment is inevitable. But the gloss? Yeah, I gave up on that after getting my hair stuck on my mouth one too many times. Now it’s 2017 and the gloss is back. I’m tired of overly matte lips for everyday and I have rounded up the best neutral lip glosses for people who hate lip gloss.
My go-to drugstore pick is the Rimmel Oh My Gloss! in the shade Snog. Who’s surprised after I included it in my favorite drugstore products under $10? It’s the perfect, non-sticky gloss and the shade is amazing. It looks perfect on its own, but I especially love it over MAC Whirl. The only thing I’m not crazy about is the super grandma perfume scent.
Speaking of scent, who wouldn’t love a gloss that smells like thin mints? The bareMinerals Marvelous Moxie glosses boast medium pigment, tons of comfort, and smell like straight up dessert. Both shades I have contain subtle shimmer, but it’s mega flattering.
If I’m looking for a high pigment gloss, I’ll wear the Anastasia Beverly Hills Gloss in Tara. It’s a peachy nineties nude that you can easily wear it alone. This is probably the stickiest formula out of my favorites, but it’s still wearable and comfortable.
I’m not a plumping gloss girl, but I’m in love with Buxom’s Full On Lip Polish in Kimberly. It’s a bubble gum pink full of pink shimmer. I’ve been using it more now in spring over pinks and fuchsias. And if you’re worried about the tingling feeling from the plumping, don’t worry. It’s very minimal.
