I have been pretty curious about the Too Faced Melted Matte Long Wear Lipsticks since their release ages ago, but I wasn’t entirely convinced. I wasn’t really feeling the whole liquid lipstick trend when it started blowing up, but now I am here for it 100%. Bring them on. As you saw in my What I Got For Christmas post, I’m currently swimming in new lip products including the Too Faced Melted Matte Long Wear Lipstick in Unicorn. Thanks, Mom!
Unicorn is a beautiful, punchy and bright purple. I was surprised to find that there isn’t a sweet or fruity scent to it. There’s a slight chemical smell, but it doesn’t linger. The clear packaging is sturdy and allows you to see the true color. The doe foot applicator is the typical size and shape you see in most glosses or liquid lipsticks. It was fairly easy to apply, and it dried down completely matte without being drying. That’s where the pros end.
The first night I wore it, we went out to eat and watch the fight with two of my favorite ladies (Plam and Plel, I’m looking at you.). I ended up eating a veggie burger with a side of broccoli (Can I just say, it was amazing.). It wasn’t greasy in the slightest, but at the end of my meal my lipstick was 1000% gone. Vanished. Gone girl.
Not a stain. No crumbles. Just completely gone. I was glad it hadn’t transferred everywhere, but annoyed that it wasn’t truly long-wearing. I was completely disappointed and a little shocked it didn’t hang around longer. I have matte liquid lipsticks at all price points that last, have strong pigment, and don’t dry out my lips so I don’t think I’ll be trying anymore shades of these.
I was so convinced I’d love it because of how much I love the Too Face Melted Lipsticks (The shade Melted Fig is my all time favorite.). Strangely, the regular Melted Liquid lipsticks are also touted as long-wear, but I find they have the lasting power of a cream lipstick and leave a subtle stain.
