The Best of 2016.

Best Beauty Products 2016

The beginning of the new year is always flooded with beauty round up videos and blog posts. I honestly love reading and watching them because every product is an absolute obsession of the person sharing them. I haven’t done an end-of-year round up in years, but I am dying to share my 2016 favorites with you because I have fallen head over heels for some products and they are just so damn good.

When I did my e.l.f. First Impressions video, I didn’t think I’d be finding one of my holy grail products. I have repurchased the e.l.f. Blemish Control Primer 4 times this year. I can’t get enough of the stuff. It fills my pores and smooths my skin without clogging it up. It offers my base some extra lasting power and the 2.0%% salicylic acid makes me feel like it’s giving me a slight skincare benefit.

Speaking of lasting power, the NYX Matte Finish Setting Spray really changed the game this year. My makeup benefits from having something mattifying seal it because I have such incredibly oily skin. It has been my go-to setting spray since the beginning of 2016 and I can’t see myself using anything else.

Who’s surprised that I’m talking about MAC Warm Soul? It has to be my most worn blush of all time. It goes with absolutely every makeup look and flatters my skin tone all year long. There’s a subtle shimmer in it that adds a soft focus glow to the cheeks. I’m convinced everyone needs Warm Soul. Seriously.

I don’t know how, but I’ve become a nude lip addict. Well, not to every nude. It has to be either the Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in Lolita or Smashbox Be Legendary Lipstick in Safe Word. Lolita is probably my most worn liquid lipstick of all time and Safe Word is the nude that changed my mind about nudes. They are such gorgeous shades for everyday and they keep my lips feeling comfortable.

If you’ve read this far, you’ll notice there isn’t an eye shadow palette in this year’s beauty round up. I didn’t (and still don’t!) want to use anything but the Maybelline Color Tattoo Leather in Creamy Beige on the day to day. It offers a soft wash of color to my eyes that smooths out any veins or discoloration on the lids. It takes seconds to apply and it sticks around all day long.

But what is eye shadow without mascara? I have fallen into a deep love affair with the Cover Girl Super Sizer Waterproof mascara. It doesn’t flake or smudge, it holds a curl, and it gives my lashes amazing volume, length, and separation.

I love the NYX spray, I used a small size of the Urban Decay Oil Free first and loved it, but it’s expensive for how long it lasts. The NYX spray is half the price and lasts three-months wearing almost everyday compared to the Urban Decay. How do you life the E.L.F. Makeup in general? I heard it’s a NARS dupe? They have it at the Walmart by my house so I was wondering if it’s anything comparable to NARS or other like brands as the NYX can sometimes be for a few products.

I do love the NYX Setting Spray more than the Urban Decay for the same reason! Plus I think the NYX just works better. Did you mean a specific e.l.f. product? I do enjoy the brand. Like many brands it can be hit and miss, but the hits are great!

I wouldn’t say they’re all that comparable. Some of their components and packaging are similar (Like the blushes and bronzers), but I wouldn’t say e.l.f. is just a cheaper version of Nars. I love their matte lip crayons, the blemish control primer, and their exfoliating lip scrubs.

I’ve been on the prowl of a new blush and I can’t deny that I love MAC products, I cant believe I didn’t even think to look to them for a new blush. The shade of warm soul looks outstanding- I need to get myself to the MAC store to test it out! I think it might be love at first sight!!
