2017 Goals – A More Responsible and Healthy Tara.

2017 Goals

Oh, 2016. What a mess you were. It wasn’t all bad. I got a job, B worked at NASA all year, we got to visit our families, and spent weekends exploring Virginia. I know we’re going to have a great 2017, but I have some goals I’d like to work toward to really make this year even better.

I’m not the healthiest person, but I’m not the most unhealthy either. I have PCOS and I’m over weight, but everything else is great. One way to help my PCOS is to lose weight, but the hormone imbalance makes it difficult. I’m not going to let that stand in my way. I’m going to make a conscious effort to strive for at least 10,000 steps a day, do meaningful exercise 3X a week, and eat less starchy carbs and processed foods. I need to learn how to take care of myself better and I want 2017 to be the year I do it. Oh, and I’d love to work on my posture because my back sure could use some straightening out.

My skin was all over the place in 2016. I’ve been having bouts of acne and fine lines have started to appear under my eyes and near my mouth. Granted, a lot of that was stress and me being lazy about skincare (And, well, just getting older.). I want to make a balanced skincare regimen a part of my nighttime routine more than ever before. Speaking of routines, I want to schedule time into my week for me. I’m calling it Self-care Sundays. Sunday nights will be my time to unwind and take care of myself. It’s designated time to do my nails, throw on a face mask, read a nice book, take a hot bath, and whatever else I think will help me feel like a happier, more put together person in the week to come.

It might be taboo to discuss, but I need to work on my finances. I strive to be better with money in 2017 to help establish good financial habits for the future. I save money every month, pay my bills, and even put money toward future goals using Qapital, but I need to be stricter about it. Looking at my expenses these last couple months made me a little queasy. I went a little bit crazy buying gifts for people for the holidays and even buying things for myself when I should have been saving. I need to have a more structured plan for my income so I’m not just spending my extra income willy nilly.

2017 might not be the year I’m looking the most forward to, but I’m going to make it the best I possibly can. Have you made any resolutions for the year? I’d love to hear them and any tips you may have for any of my resolutions.

Hey Tara. Good luck with your resolutions! For your skin at Ulta, there is this amazing Brightening Serum in a brand called RETINOL, It’s about $22.00 or so US and it’s basically Vitamin C and tons of Vitamin A which RETINOL is made of. It’s great for starting to take care of your skin with a pen an anti-aging gel/cream. I was told to this starting around 25.00. Also, RETINOL has the added benefit of making your skin clear of acne. It’s a Gel so it won’t make your skin greasy and its Brightening affect helps get rid of old breakout marks. It lasts about a month for a bottle and is completely worth it. They have a Gel eye cream which is also nice 🙂

As for weight, I struggle as well with CFS. I’ve made it my goal to do yoga everyday I can again. I go to http://www.gaia.com it’s $9.99 a month and .99 cents the first and you have access to tons of yoga videos and the best thing is many of them are not at all difficult, just help to stretch and bend your muscles, keep you nimble.if you can’t handle long many are 12 to 25 minutes, as well as longer, and the constantly add new yoga videos as well as some Pilates. There’s also a free app. Yoga has so many beneficial affects!

Thanks so much! I’ll have to take a look at the range the next time I’m in there (:

I do yoga as well! I love Yoga with Adrienne videos as well as the yoga videos by PsycheTruth on YouTube!

YES to everything!!! 🙌🏼 Maybe it’s the looming dark cloud of the inauguration but there’s something about 2017 that makes me want to put in an actual conscious effort to better myself and my environment that I haven’t really experienced before. I’m taking things slow and steady and honestly that makes my goals feel more meaningful and achievable this time around.

Good luck with everything, girl! You know I’m always here to help out when you need a push or a virtual shoulder to lean on 🙂 We’ve got this!

Seriously, yes. The inauguration is seriously the dark cloud over this month, but I’m not going to let that change what I can do for myself and my community. Slow and steady is the way! We’ve got this! <3
