Oh, 2016. What a mess you were. It wasn’t all bad. I got a job, B worked at NASA all year, we got to visit our families, and spent weekends exploring Virginia. I know we’re going to have a great 2017, but I have some goals I’d like to work toward to really make this year even better.
I’m not the healthiest person, but I’m not the most unhealthy either. I have PCOS and I’m over weight, but everything else is great. One way to help my PCOS is to lose weight, but the hormone imbalance makes it difficult. I’m not going to let that stand in my way. I’m going to make a conscious effort to strive for at least 10,000 steps a day, do meaningful exercise 3X a week, and eat less starchy carbs and processed foods. I need to learn how to take care of myself better and I want 2017 to be the year I do it. Oh, and I’d love to work on my posture because my back sure could use some straightening out.
My skin was all over the place in 2016. I’ve been having bouts of acne and fine lines have started to appear under my eyes and near my mouth. Granted, a lot of that was stress and me being lazy about skincare (And, well, just getting older.). I want to make a balanced skincare regimen a part of my nighttime routine more than ever before. Speaking of routines, I want to schedule time into my week for me. I’m calling it Self-care Sundays. Sunday nights will be my time to unwind and take care of myself. It’s designated time to do my nails, throw on a face mask, read a nice book, take a hot bath, and whatever else I think will help me feel like a happier, more put together person in the week to come.
It might be taboo to discuss, but I need to work on my finances. I strive to be better with money in 2017 to help establish good financial habits for the future. I save money every month, pay my bills, and even put money toward future goals using Qapital, but I need to be stricter about it. Looking at my expenses these last couple months made me a little queasy. I went a little bit crazy buying gifts for people for the holidays and even buying things for myself when I should have been saving. I need to have a more structured plan for my income so I’m not just spending my extra income willy nilly.
2017 might not be the year I’m looking the most forward to, but I’m going to make it the best I possibly can. Have you made any resolutions for the year? I’d love to hear them and any tips you may have for any of my resolutions.
