Ladies and Gentlemen, I have thighs. I’ve had chunky thighs prone to chafing since middle school and have never figured out how to make it stop. Listen, it hurts. It keeps me from doing things I want to do. I can’t tell you how many walks with B I’ve cut short in the past because my skin is screaming in pain. It sounds stupid, but it took over my life. I would avoid hanging out with friends in summer if they were doing something outside. I would wear jeans to protect my skin from rubbing even when the weather was 100+ degrees.
Enough is enough. I’ve been on the hunt for a solution to my chafing woes for years now and I’ve finally landed on something that works for me.
Nothing is worse for chafing than moisture. I sweat a ton all over my body, but especially my thighs which makes chafing inevitable. Bicycle shorts work awesome for soaking up any sweat and keeping my thighs from rubbing under dresses and skirts, but not under much else. I find powder to be uncomfortable and ineffective on my thighs, but it does work for some people. Even runner’s friction defense seems to wear off after a couple hours.
But wait. I’ve found a lifesaver. The product unlike any other. The Monistat Complete Care Chafing Relief Powder Gel. It’s freaking magic. This clear gel rubs into the skin in seconds without causing any irritation. It leaves my thighs silky smooth for hours upon hours keeping things chafe free.
From my experience, it’s best to just put it on your fingers and rub directly on the affected areas. If you rub it into your fingers first, there won’t be enough left to apply because it adheres to the skin so well. Some people even use it as a primer because if it’s texture and lasting power.
The product isn’t affected by sweat, but it definitely disappears when it comes in contact with water (aka if you get rained on). I don’t really mind it because it’s so easy to reapply and keeping the small tube in my purse isn’t a big deal. It’s pricier online, but I can find it for around $5.50 in store and a single tube lasts for months.
