FOTD: Spoopy Sweet Eyes.

Tara wearing a candy corn themed eye look and orange lipstick

Halloween is my jam. I’m obsessed with decorating, the movies, and the candy, but I kind of suck at putting together Halloween looks. I feel like everyone with a blog or YouTube channel is pulling out all the stops and coming up with incredible tutorials, and I haven’t been able to figure out what I want to do. I wanted to do something really low-key and more wearable than full on skeleton makeup. It came to me while I was indulging on some candy corn that for this years Halloween look, I would become candy corn. Well, that I would do a candy corn inspired makeup look.

I did some research on candy corn themed eye looks and found that most of them were very blunt. There was a lot of clean-cut lines and in your face color that didn’t feel like me. I decided I wanted to make this a bit more wearable maybe for if you’re passing out candy at home or having some kind of casual Halloween thing with friends.

For an eye base, I went in with MAC Rubenesque paint pot instead of a normal eye primer because it’s a peachy orange with a gold sheen that I thought would really punch up the colors. I dabbed a bit of Virgin from the Naked 1 palette in the inner corner to replicate the white little nub of a candy corn piece. The rest of the shadows came from this Shany Bold and Bright Collection eye palette from Amazon, which happens to be the only colorful eye palette I own. I patted some of the 1st and 3rd yellow shades (picture above) from the left on my lid for a soft yellow look with some sparkle. The orange crease shade is what makes this look. I dabbed a small fluffy brush into the 4th, 6th, and 9th orange shades from the left and lightly applied it with window wiper motions in my crease. To get a well blended and diffused look, I went in with a clean fluffy brush at the edges. I took all these shades underneath the eyes as well to bring the eye look together. I swiped on a couple of coats of the Covergirl Super Sizer Mascara in the Star Wars packaging (I’m currently swooning over it so hard.)  to define and add volume to my lashes.

My base is the Clarins Instant Smooth Perfecting Touch primer, the Rimmel Wake Me Up concealer in Medium, and the Loreal Infallible Pro Matte powder. I went to my Wet N Wild Contour duo for my contour and followed with some of the NYX blush in Cinnamon for an orange pop on the cheeks. For a warm pop of shine, I dipped into theBalm Betty Loumanizer highlighter.

I decided to go with a bright orange lip and started out by lining my lips with the Urban Decay 24/7Glide-On Lip Pencil in Bang. I followed up with one of my favorite oranges, the Rimmel Kate Moss lipstick in 12 and a bit of the Almay Color+Care Liquid Lip Balm in Apricot Pucker for some shine. If you’re looking for a different shade orange than what I have on, check out my orange lip round-up for suggestions.

I’m kind of obsessed with this look and it’s inspired me to actually try wearing color more often. I’m not saying mermaid eyes everyday or something, but maybe a little purple here and a little green there.

I hope you guys have a safe and fun Halloween!  We shall talk soon!
