The Hefty Update.

Hey there bow friends,

Today’s the day.  The day I begin to update you on my month off.  I can assure you this is going to be a long and photo heavy one so maybe get a snack, some tea, and get comfy.  We’re going to cover my graduation, moving, and all the fun things in between.

Graduation

I graduated from Stetson University with my Bachelor’s of Science in Integrative Health Science.  Yup, your girl is a graduate.  Graduation was stressful, but lovely.  All of my family (And B’s too!) were there to help celebrate and make my day special.

My 5 am graduation look was comprised of the Nars duo in Isolde, Ardell Demi Wispies lashes, and MAC Plumful lipstick.  I have to say, I didn’t do so badly for being half asleep and extremely nervous.

Tara wearing her Scott Pilgrim inspired Graduation cap

My cap was Scott Pilgrim themed (this scene specifically) and happened to be an incredibly stressful last minute project.  I used perler beads to make the 8-bit Tara head and I have to say it turned out pretty great.  Oh and some of the crooked letters are due to the heat melting the adhesive under the letters.  Yup, Florida is that hot.

I graduated beside my best friend, Kim.  We’ve been best friends since the 9th grade so graduating together was very special.  If it weren’t for her, I wouldn’t have become a more motivated and involved student these last couple years.  I’m so proud of her and all the hard work she does.  She’s extremely inspiring.

B and I have been dating since my first week of college so this day felt a bit monumental.   He’s been one of my biggest supporters through out all 4 years and I have appreciated it so much.  He’s a year ahead of me in school and seeing him be an incredible student and a dedicated instructor makes me want to be better.  This guy is great, which is why we moved in together.

Moving!

IMG_2374Whoa!  Yeah!  B and I moved in together.  We both moved to a new apartment (Maybe I’ll do an apartment tour soon!) that is both unexpectedly bigger than we thought and unexpectedly hard to decorate.  If you’ve been here for a while, you’re probably confused as to why I haven’t moved to Colorado.  That move will hopefully come next spring.  My classes this year are conveniently offered online so I’ll be taking the year to study and work from Florida.

Adventure

Kennedy Space Center

A few days after graduation, B, his parents, and I headed to Kennedy Space Center.  I’ve never actually been there before even though I’ve lived in Florida most of my life.  It was so much fun and I learned a ton about the space programs and space itself.  I really hope we go back again soon because we didn’t even get to see everything.  The place is huge.

97X Barbecue with Kim

Kim and I adventured to St Petersburg for the 97 X Barbecue to see our favorite band, Panic! At The Disco.  The Barbecue was a mini outdoor festival featuring P!ATD, Awolnation, Robert Delong, Night Riots, Vinyl Theater, and In The Valley Below.  We got there at 8 am and waited in line until they let us in at 12.  It was some sort of a disaster.  We stood in the crowd and hoped to make it through 6 hours of bands so we could be in the front for Panic!, but after about 20 minutes, we realized we were too old for those shenanigans.  It was over 100 degrees out, incredibly humid, and there were people everywhere.  It was an  overwhelming experience to say the least and we only made it through 2 bands.  Yup, we didn’t even get to see Panic, but to be honest, I was okay with that.  We just wanted to go home.

The Rolling Stones

Let’s end with one of the coolest things I’ve ever done.  My family went to see The Rolling Stones and it was absolutely fantastic.  Mick Jagger has more pep and energy than I do, to be honest.  The band put on a fun and entertaining show and the energy from the crowd was so positive.  All around marvelous experience that I will remember forever.

What have you been up to recently?  How’s your summer treating you?  A lot of things have happened in the last few months (And I just did a couple more exciting things I can’t wait to talk about.) and I have felt so guilty that I hadn’t filled you all in yet.  I’ve been experiencing so many new changes and it has been overwhelming, but good.

We shall talk soon!
