Guess what time it is? It’s time to talk about MAC Face and Body Foundation. I’ve given it a proper trial and I’m ready to give you all my thoughts. Are you ready?!
Packaging: The foundation comes in a small plastic bottle with a screw top that is pretty reminiscent of water colors or something (maybe I’m crazy, I don’t know). I actually love the bottle. It’s great to travel with as it’s pretty small and the screw top allows for there to be no accidental spillage. It dispenses easily and I don’t ever seem to squeeze out too much. The one downside to this product is that you can’t tell how much is left in the bottle. I’m not really sure how much I have left.Product: This foundation is water based which makes it a very watery, runny consistency. There’s a faint plasticy scent, but it fades away when it dries. It’s a very low coverage foundation that can be slightly buildable. I’ve read on the MAC site as well as some other reviews that this is buildable to a medium coverage. If you can get this to a medium coverage you need to come teach me your magic ways. No matter how much or how little you apply, it always looks natural and is extremely long-lasting. Mine is in the shade C4 which is perfect now that I’ve gotten a little darker.
Ready to get our application on?! Despite it’s sheerness, it does even out my skin tone and cover up some redness. It has a satiny, dewy finish which would normally scare me off. My skin has been more combination than oily these days with a few minor spots. Face and Body is extremely lightweight and blends into the skin seamlessly. Speaking of blending, I like to apply this product 2 different ways.
On no fuss days or rushed mornings, I use my fingers to apply it. I usually focus the product on my cheeks, chin, and forehead where I need most coverage. I use my fingers to blend the product down my jaw line and onto my neck. I always make sure to dab some underneath my eyes as it actually does a pretty decent job of covering up my dark circles.
If I’ve got a little extra time to get ready, I’ll use my Real Techniques buffing brush and pointed foundation brush to apply it.
I use the foundation brush for the initial application. The brush fits nicely under the eyes and around the crevices of the nose. I use the buffing brush to blend the foundation in as it is the perfect tool for creating a flawless finish.
The foundation, regardless of how it’s applied, has to be set with powder. It’s getting hot and melty out in Florida these days and for this product to not slide off I have to powder it with my Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder in Translucent and touch up through out the day. When I have it powdered, it produces an awesome satin, velvet finish. Because it is so lightweight on the skin it’s perfect for summer. It doesn’t settle into any lines and it doesn’t ever get cakey.
I wouldn’t recommend this for people with very oily skin, especially not during the summer. It would probably be great on dry or normal skin types. If you love a dewy finish this is the foundation for you. If I’m going to be staying in doors with friends or shopping this would be my base of choice. I think the amount of product it comes with and the quality of the foundation itself is absolutely worth the price. This was my first MAC foundation purchase and I’m really happy with it. It will be sitting on the shelf for a while as it’s too steamy out to wear it now, but I absolutely love it.
I would give this foundation a 3.8/5 because I can’t actually wear it year round, which is what I was hoping I could do. I love the finish of it though and I think a lot of you would love it as well.
